Welcome to my Upward Bound website during the 2013-2014 school year!
What is on this website?
Calendar: Here you will find a calendar outlining dates of our upward bound sessions. Also you will find information regarding where I will be located for that day. If you are in desperate need of my time make sure to email me ([email protected]) and we can work out a time together. I am willing to meet on a Monday or Friday as well at the high school.
English Class: Here you will find information regarding common assessments required for you to complete in order to pass your English class. Each year English is required for you to take and pass in order to graduate from MHS. Each English class has required common assessments (or papers) that must be completed and turned in for you to receiving a passing grade and not have to retake the class as an upperclassman.
ACT: The tab provides information regarding the ACT examination that is required for you to take your Junior year. The three sections I will be focusing on with you will be Reading, Writing and English.
College Bound: You should be thinking about what colleges you would like to apply for. Here you will find information regarding popular colleges and their required ACT scores for acceptance as well as whether or not they require a writing section of the ACT to be taken.
SOPHIA: SOPHIA Learning is a website that I use to create blended/flipped lessons. This means that usual lecture material is provided to you through a video of me teaching content. Once you have viewed the video on your own at home you are able to come the next day to school ready to apply your newly found skills to projects, essays, and assessments. Instead of wasting a day of listening to your teacher lecture, you can view the lecture at home and then spend your class time applying your skills and developing those abilities to an even further level!
Contact: Here you will find my email for the program as well as my Twitter designated just for fast and easy communication outside of the program. Here you can tweet or email instantly to request time during our upward bound session or are in need of a paper looked over before the next day! I use Google Docs so make sure you have a gmail set up to send a paper to me. This way I will be able to edit your paper without changing it... that's for you to do!
